Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

“We are the children of Palestine; we do not grow up, because we are killed every day.”

Description:

This is Raya from Palestine,

The choice of the title Children Victims of Armed Conflict to address children’s rights this year is no coincidence. I believe the world has never witnessed—nor should it ever witness again—atrocity as devastating as what has unfolded in Gaza, Palestine. Entire families have been erased. Children have been killed twice: first by relentless and indiscriminate bombardment, and again by hunger, cold, displacement, terror, and the slow cruelty of abandonment.

I am a daughter of Palestine, born in war, shaped by it, and forced to live it every day, with no certainty of what tomorrow holds. One child from Gaza once said words that echo our collective truth: “We are the children of Palestine; we do not grow up, because we are killed every day.”

kindly find my message, and to look closely at my drawing, because it carries the pain, the truth, and the voice that words alone can no longer contain.

Raya from Palestine” To The WORLD “with no exception!

I’m honored to submit my artwork the attached drawing represents the situation in Gaza as I see it and feel it. Through this artwork. A 13 years old girl, ME RAYA, I wanted to express the reality children are living in during armed conflict, and the emotions, fears, and hopes that live inside us.

As a Palestinian child, I believe it is important for the world to hear our voices and understand how conflict affects our daily lives, our dreams, and our right to live safely and with dignity.

Thank you for creating this space for children to share their experiences and perspectives.

Sincerely,

Raya
