Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

English Translation

On a quiet evening, Jinan sat by the window, holding her colorful notebook and writing:

“When I grow up, I want to be an engineer, and rebuild Gaza all over again.”

Jinan imagines clean streets filled with flowers, and children laughing without fear; schools with games and libraries, where there is no dread of bombing.

In the dream, Jinan was walking through her neighborhood, distributing her drawings to the people.

Every drawing featured a sun, a heart, and a house. Jinan said to herself:

“I am small—but my heart is big… and Gaza will embrace you again one day.”
