Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

English Translation

I slept on the rubble of my home,

Yet hope remains a light in my orbit.

With chalk, I drew a large door— A door for the sun to enter, where despair fades away.

I want a brand new book,

And a doll that is not afraid of iron.

I want my school courtyard and the sound of my friend’s voice;

I do not want a rocket, nor the sound of a cannon.

I want a new house under the light of the moon, I want my school to be overseen by the sun.

My dream is small, yet it is grand.

I am a girl from Gaza, with peace in my heart.

I wait for the dawn to forget the pain and the darkness,

For there is no impossible with hope—no impossible.

No impossible…

Let us make our land a beautiful home.

Hope remains a light
