Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

Queridos amigos,

Me llamo Stefania, tengo 16 años.

Cuidaos mucho,
Stefania.

English Translation

Dear friends,

My name is Stefania, I am 16 years old. I am writing this letter because I know a little bit about the situation being experienced in your country, Colombia, specifically in Catatumbo. I want to offer a message of hope and tell you that you are not alone. I know it may seem like something never-ending, and I am sure it is very complicated to be in a situation like this, but have faith that peace and calm will eventually reach your lives.

I wish I could meet all of you and give you a hug to tell you everything will be fine, but for obvious reasons it is very complicated to do so; therefore, I hope to give you at least a minimum of hope through this letter. You are the strongest and bravest people I have ever heard of; keep fighting and keep trusting that one day it will all end, because no one deserves to live through what you are experiencing. I watch over your happiness, health, and peace from Spain, and I am here to listen to you if you need it; I would be delighted to know more about you.

Take good care of yourselves, Stefania
