Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

English Translation

Dear friend,

My name is Nayla, I am 15 years old and I live in Blanes, a town located in Catalonia, Spain. I live with my mother, my little sister, and my pets. In my free time, I like to play video games, listen to music, and spend time with my family. I also really like to play soccer and meet up with my friends. Blanes is a quiet town. It has a beautiful old neighborhood and there are some very large and pretty beaches.

I have learned about the situation in Catatumbo through school. I feel sad knowing what you are going through. I am writing to you to show my support. I wish you peace, strength, and hope for the future.

I hope this letter reaches you with all my affection and that, in some way, it makes you feel that you are not alone.

A hug, Nayla
