Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

Hello, we are students from Spain who have learned about the current situation in Catatumbo.

I hope that upon receiving this letter, you are doing well. Even though you are facing difficult moments due to the armed conflict, I want you to know that you have an incredible strength within you. Living in such a situation must be frustrating and you may lose hope, but we encourage you to keep moving forward.

We have been looking for information about Catatumbo and we have realized that it is a very beautiful place, but currently the conflict is darkening it. Remember that even in the darkest nights, the stars continue to shine and that soon the storm will end.

Even though the path is difficult, there is always light at the end. Trust in yourself and in your community to build a better future, without conflicts.

We send you a big hug. We hope the conflict ends as soon as possible.

With all our support,

Dani and Alex.
