Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

English Translation

I dreamed of my country, the land of the great,

I saw children dressed in the finest state.

Not just buildings, but towers reaching high,

Piercing with grandeur the limits of the sky.

Around every tower, pools sparkled blue,

Like the luxuries only the wealthy once knew.

Children around me were playing with glee,

Living in comfort, happy and free.

No divide between teacher, engineer, or physician,

Equality and honor were our shared mission.

My people as one, hand in hand they stay,

The heirs of the prophets in every way.

I prayed for my dream to be real and true,

Not a passing shadow that fades from view.

I Dreamed of My Homeland
