Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

English Translation

I hope to see Gaza after the war as a city that laughs again; its houses standing without fear, and its streets filled with children rather than tears. I hope to wake up to the sound of the sea, not to the sound of shelling, and to carry my bag to school and return while dreaming, not trembling.

I dream of a green Gaza, its schools open, and our toys not hidden away in drawers. My mother smiling and reassured, and my father not worrying about tomorrow. The Gaza I hope for resembles my small heart; it is tired, but it still believes that joy will return and that peace will grow with us.
