Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

English Translation

What I want to tell adults with this is that their decisions reach our bodies, our schools, and our dreams. We don’t want to learn to survive among rubble, we don’t want to be victims or soldiers; we want to be athletes, artists, and leaders, because for many of us, studying is the only thing that has opened doors.

I also wanted to show how war hurts us in different ways, not only us but also our surroundings — nature and animals — yet despite everything, we keep fighting until the very last minute to achieve peace.

Between rubble and dreams: the right to grow, not just to survive. Entre escombros y sueños: derecho a crecer, no a sobrevivir

Description:

As we can see on the right side of the drawing, we have a scene of war — or at least that’s how I perceive it — and whether it truly is or not, exaggerated or not, it’s the first image that comes to mind when I think of war. What we see the most in the drawing is blood, the blood of innocent people, explosions, like a nightmare that seems to have no end and to be much larger than the solutions, which we can see on the left side, where that thing we dream of is, along with the tools that drive us and help us build a better future.
