Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

Hola,

We are two students, Africa and Diaye, and we study at the Sa Palomera Institute in ❤️ Girona, Spain. Yes, we are writing to you from very far away, which is why we would love for you to read this letter. Although we do not know you, we have become aware of the situation lived there in Catatumbo, and we wanted to give you much encouragement. Despite all the difficulties lived, you continue with such strength and hope; it is moving how you continue fighting for your region.

If we were in your place, we wouldn’t know what to do… What do you do to keep going? Where do you get your strength? We would like to know more about you, what a normal day in your life is like. What things make you happy? What would you like to change? What do you dream of for the future?

Sometimes, the world does not listen enough to the people who live in remote areas, but your stories are important and we want to know them. From here, we send you a big hug and we wish for peace, justice, and many opportunities for you and for everyone in Catatumbo.

With much affection, Africa and Diaye
