Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

Buenos dias,

Soy Daniela y tengo 15 años, y el 11 de agosto haré 16. Vivo en Blanes, una pequeña ciudad cerca de Barcelona, España. Aquí vivo con mi padre, José Miguel, mi madre, Cristina, y mi hermana pequeña que tiene 13 años, Valentina.

Algunas de las cosas que más me gusta hacer son leer, sobre todo libros románticos, cocinar, normalmente cosas dulces, aunque me encanta cocinar de todo, y sobre todo me encanta escuchar música. También disfruto mucho pasar tiempo con mi familia, con la que normalmente voy a comer o a restaurantes, salir a pasear… y con mis amigos, sobre todo cuando vamos al cine, ya que también me encanta ver películas, vamos a cenar, o a la playa…

Mi cosa favorita de Blanes seguramente sería su playa, ya que los veranos aquí son relajados y alegres, también el ambiente que hay en la ciudad, ya que siempre he pensado que Blanes es una ciudad muy cálida por sus habitantes.

Gracias a un compañero de clase, he conocido el conflicto por el que estáis pasando en Catatumbo, y lo que más me preocupa es cómo están viviendo esta situación los locales, y sobre todo los niños; esta situación me entristece muchísimo.

Desde Blanes, os envío todo mi apoyo, esperanza y fuerza, y solo espero que en menos de lo esperado este conflicto pueda acabar.

English Translation

Good morning,

I am Daniela and I am 15 years old; on August 11, I will turn 16. I live in Blanes, a small city near Barcelona, Spain. Here I live with my father, José Miguel, my mother, Cristina, and my little sister, Valentina, who is 13 years old.

Some of the things I like to do most are reading, especially romantic books, and cooking, normally sweet things, although I love cooking everything. Above all, I love listening to music. I also really enjoy spending time with my family, with whom I usually go out to eat at restaurants, go for walks… and with my friends, especially when we go to the cinema, since I also love watching movies; we go to dinner, to the beach…

My favorite thing about Blanes would definitely be its beach, since the summers here are relaxed and happy, and also the atmosphere in the city, since I have always thought that Blanes is a very warm city because of its inhabitants.

Thanks to a classmate, I have learned about the conflict you are going through in Catatumbo, and what worries me most is how the locals are living through this situation, and especially the children; this situation makes me very sad.

From Blanes, I send you all my support, hope, and strength, and I only hope that sooner than expected this conflict can end.
