Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

English Translation

In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. I will recite a poem titled “The Gaza We Want.”

The Gaza we want is a dawn of safety,
a sun of knowledge shining with vibrant colors.
Within it, schools are beacons of guidance,
building minds and planting faith.

The Gaza we want is a pen and a book,
a child’s dream that is neither lost nor afraid.
The student learns to love his homeland,
and builds glory through knowledge and good judgment.

The Gaza we want is health and compassion,
with hospitals that illuminate every hardship.
Where the doctor heals with hope,
and restores to people the pulse of peace.

The Gaza we want is play and joy,
green gardens filled with cheerful laughter.
Where the voice of childhood rises in safety,
and wounds fall asleep with the morning light.

The Gaza we want is a home of dignity,
with no fear and no tears of sorrow.
We live with cooperation and sincere love,
and values remain the symbol of honor.

The Gaza we want is a new tomorrow,
built by a people who remain steadfast and patient.
So be patient, learn, and plant goodness
along every path, for the future is born anew.

Hold tightly to knowledge, and stand hand in hand—
for with hope and work, a homeland is built forever.
