Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

English Translation

I am Jood, and I am here to tell you my story. Every morning, I wake up filled with hope and happiness. I say to my doll, “We shall go together,” and I hug her tightly as if she were my own sister.

Oh, how beautiful my home is—my bed, my books, and my toys! From my bedroom window, I see a mother cooing to her baby, a child crying, and another mother walking her children to school. The streets are clean, wide, and inviting. The song of the birds fills me with hope, happiness, and a sense of beauty.

And my beautiful school—how wonderful is the teachers’ smile that never fades! They work with nothing but love and joy, seeking only the pleasure of the Most Merciful. I see the talent centers that make me feel confident and strong, helping me envision my brilliant future. I see the police stations working tirelessly to keep our city safe from corruption, and the medical center I visit whenever I feel weary.

Ah, how beautiful is the air that slaps my face with its coolness, bringing tears to my eyes! In my homeland, every step I take is a ray of hope, not a sting of pain. I exist like the Phoenix—rising from the ashes, and growing even stronger.
