Art from the Heart

This is the digital exhibition of artworks and message from children all over the world prepared by the Children's Advisory Team of Child Rights Connect. The goal is to support the discussion at the Annual Day on the Rights of the Child at the UN Human Rights Council about children in armed conflict by showing how children see the world, how conflict affects them, and what they want adults and decision makers to do to protect them.

Children’s voices matter. Their views matter. Even, and especially, in times of war. When children are listened to, peace becomes possible.

English Translation

Good morning, Gaza, my beautiful city. My mother says that we will rebuild you and make you more beautiful than before, and I will take part in that. I have an idea: I will tell my engineer friends to build our houses out of biscuits, so if the occupation bombs them again, we can eat them and no one dies.

I also want the clothing sellers not to sell us dark-colored clothes anymore. My mother used to buy them for me so they wouldn’t get dirty quickly from the soot of the fires we use because there is no gas. I love to wear light colors; I love yellow, pink, and white, so please bring plenty of those.

In my opinion, this is how my city will truly return beautiful—even more beautiful than before. My greetings, I am Lin. Peace be upon me, upon us, and upon all of you.
